Mastering Apple Watch Navigation

The Apple Watch is a powerhouse of functionality, but with so many apps and menus, navigating to your preferred settings can sometimes feel cumbersome. Fortunately, there are hidden tricks designed to streamline your experience and get you exactly where you need to be in seconds.

Instantly Returning to the Top

If you have ever found yourself lost deep within a lengthy menu, scrolling back to the top can be tedious. A simple, often overlooked solution is to tap the time display at the top corner of your screen within any native Apple Watch application. This action functions as a 'teleport' command, instantly snapping the interface back to the beginning of the list. This trick works seamlessly in apps like Settings, Mail, and Workout, saving significant time during daily use.

Additionally, if you want to exit an app and return directly to your watch face, you can simply cover the screen with your palm for a brief moment, and the device will immediately jump back to the home screen.

Creating a Custom Action Button

While the Apple Watch Ultra series features a dedicated Action button for starting workouts, you can replicate this convenience on any Apple Watch Series model by utilizing the Shortcuts app on your iPhone:

  • Open the Shortcuts app and create a new command to launch your specific workout (such as a run).
  • Long-press the shortcut and select "show on Apple Watch".
  • Customize the icon and name for easy identification.
  • Press the side button on your watch to access the Control Center.
  • Scroll to the bottom, select Edit, and tap the "+" icon to add your newly created shortcut.

Once configured, you can trigger your preferred training session with a single tap from the Control Center. For even faster access, you can add these shortcuts as complications directly onto your watch face, effectively providing you with a customized 'Action button' experience regardless of the model you own.
