The medieval MMO Gloria Victis, which ceased operations in 2023 due to financial difficulties and developer burnout, is making a surprise comeback. Developer Black Eye Games closed after less than a year of full release, following six years in early access. Publisher Gamigo has now acquired the license and plans to relaunch the title as a free-to-play game.

In its announcement, Gamigo praised the game's unique approach to territory control, siege warfare, and large-scale, skill-based open-world PvP. The company stated it aims to preserve the core experience while improving stability, fixing bugs, and adding quality-of-life updates. The revived game will have "skill-based combat at its core" and promises "no pay to win."

While some players expressed excitement, others voiced concerns over potential cheaters, pay-to-win mechanics, and the shift to a free model for a game they previously purchased. Gamigo has not yet announced a specific release date but indicated a Discord server will relaunch on March 2nd.
