Leica has ended the Japan-exclusive status of its Leitzphone series, launching the 'Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi' globally. This marks the first internationally available model, combining Xiaomi's flagship hardware with distinct Leica design and camera technology.

The phone differentiates itself from the co-branded 'Xiaomi 17 Ultra by Leica' through its physical design. It features a black fibreglass back, a knurled metal frame, Leica's red dot, and a new rotatable camera ring for adjusting settings. The core triple-camera system, however, is shared with the Xiaomi flagship, featuring a 50MP main sensor with LOFIC technology, a 200MP mechanical periscope telephoto, and a 50MP ultra-wide lens.

Leica has redesigned the camera UI, adding a Leica Essential Mode, multiple 'Leica Looks,' and bokeh simulations. The phone also supports the Content Authenticity Initiative (C2PA) for secure image metadata. It is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, has a 6.9-inch OLED display, a 6000mAh battery, and 1TB of storage.

Available now, the Leitzphone is priced at £1,700 / €1,999.
