In an exclusive interview, Nick Apostolides, the voice of Leon S. Kennedy, opens up about returning for Resident Evil Requiem. This marks his first performance as Leon in a game that isn't a remake, venturing into uncharted narrative territory for the character.
Apostolides describes a "different kind of pressure" this time, having to trust Capcom's direction and his own instincts to define Leon in a new story. The game is set decades after Raccoon City's destruction, with Leon investigating a case that forces him to return to the scarred city, confronting past traumas.
To prepare for a more world-weary Leon, the actor created a detailed mood board. Its centerpiece was a graphite sketch of an injured lion—"Lion S. Kennedy"—representing a character who is "brutal out of necessity." Apostolides reveals the creative freedom he now has, contributing to lines, motion capture, and Leon's physical presentation.
The actor also shares the personal significance of the role, recalling how playing Resident Evil 4 with his brother years ago inspired his acting career. He plans to continue their tradition by playing Requiem together upon its release.
