Anthropic has launched a Remote Control mode for Claude Code, freeing users from their desks. This new feature enables developers to monitor and manage ongoing coding tasks directly from their smartphones, making long-running jobs portable.

Remote Control establishes a live connection between a local Claude Code session and the Claude mobile app or web interface. It works by generating a one-time link or code from the active session, granting another device access to the same context, files, and command history.

Importantly, all code and files remain on the original local machine; the phone acts only as a remote interface for issuing instructions or checking progress. This is designed for lengthy builds or deployments. Security is maintained through temporary access tokens that expire when the session ends.

To use the feature, users must update to Claude version 2.1.52 and run a specific command. It is currently in research preview for Claude Max plan subscribers, with access for Pro users expected soon.
