Xiaomi has announced the global rollout of its latest imaging-focused flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, co-engineered with Leica. The device represents the company's most technically ambitious camera phone to date, building on the "Optical Night" philosophy of its predecessor.
The main camera features a 1-inch Light Fusion 1050L sensor with LOFIC HDR technology, designed to better handle high-contrast scenes. The headline innovation is a revolutionary telephoto system with a genuine mechanical optical zoom, covering a 75–100mm equivalent focal range. This lens also carries Leica APO certification and uses a 200MP sensor, enabling lossless photos up to a 400mm equivalent.
The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and features a 6.9-inch OLED display with a peak brightness of 3500 nits. It houses a 6000mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. The design shifts to an all-flat body with an aluminum alloy frame and is available in several color options.
Xiaomi is also offering dedicated Photography Kit accessories, including a Pro version with a shutter button, zoom rocker, and exposure dial, to enhance the camera-like experience. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is now available in Europe and Australia, starting at £1,299.
