The latest iteration of the Polaroid Go series, the Gen 3, refines the portable analog experience that made its predecessors so popular. While the camera maintains its signature micro-sized form factor, the most significant updates lie within its internal hardware.
The manufacturer has completely overhauled the lens system. Moving away from the 34mm focal length found in the previous model, the Gen 3 features a 42mm equivalent lens. With aperture settings shifted to f/14 and f/32, users can expect notably sharper images and improved reach. While this slight zoom reduces the field of view for ultra-wide selfies, it offers more flattering compositions for portraits.
Technical Upgrades and Lighting
To complement the sharper optics, Polaroid has integrated a more powerful flash. This upgrade is designed to provide more balanced exposures across various lighting environments. According to the manufacturer, the improved flash allowed for a narrower aperture (f/14) while also increasing the shutter speed to 1/500 sec, compared to the 1/300 sec on the earlier version. Despite the increased power, the device maintains its efficiency, capable of capturing approximately 120 shots on a single charge.
Design and Compatibility
While the internal enhancements have resulted in a marginal increase in dimensions and weight, the camera remains incredibly compact. The Gen 3 measures 106.5 x 83.8 x 64.6mm and weighs roughly 252 grams without film. It continues to utilize the proprietary, credit-card-sized Polaroid Go film, which remains a favorite for its portability.
