During a special 30th-anniversary "Pokémon Presents" livestream, The Pokémon Company officially unveiled the tenth generation of its flagship series: "Pokémon Winds" and "Pokémon Waves." The games are scheduled for release in 2027 on the Nintendo Switch 2.

The presentation introduced the three new starter Pokémon: Browt, a grass-type chick; Pombon, a fire-type inspired by Pomeranians; and Gecqua, a water-type gecko. A teaser trailer showcased a vast, detailed open world, a significant evolution from recent titles like "Scarlet" and "Violet." The region features diverse environments including tropical forests, oceans, grassy plains, and volcanoes, each populated with various Pokémon.

Notably, the trailer hinted at new customization options, showing two costumed Pikachu. The game world appears to have a dynamic day-night cycle affecting which Pokémon appear. Landmarks like a massive tower in the water and a beachside town with aquatic bridges were also glimpsed.

In related news, classic games "Pokémon FireRed," "LeafGreen," and "Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness" are coming to Nintendo Switch Online. The new battling game "Pokémon Champions" launches on Switch in April and on mobile later this year.
