A New Level of Firepower

The developers of Gunsmith Simulator have officially launched the Heavy Metal DLC on Steam. This expansion shifts the focus from standard firearms to high-caliber machine guns, challenging players to manage sustained fire and complex mechanical systems. The update arrives alongside a free version, 1.6, ensuring that all players benefit from several core game improvements.

Iconic Weapons and Mechanics

The core of the new expansion features four legendary machine guns inspired by real-world counterparts: the MG3, M249, M60, and PKP Pecheneg. Each weapon provides a distinct handling experience, forcing players to adapt their repair and maintenance strategies.

To maintain the game’s commitment to realism, the developers have introduced a new thermal system:

  • Barrel Overheating: Prolonged firing sessions will cause barrels to reach critical temperatures.
  • Rapid Maintenance: A new barrel-swapping mechanic allows players to quickly replace overheated parts, ensuring consistent performance during extended testing.

Workshop and Range Upgrades

The shooting range experience has been overhauled to accommodate these larger weapons. The update includes dedicated machine gun firing stations, specialized animations for heavy equipment, and a new metal-themed radio station to set the tone for the workshop environment.

Features for All Players

The concurrent 1.6 free update introduces several mechanics available to all users, regardless of DLC ownership:

«The inclusion of prone positioning and bipod mechanics significantly enhances the tactical stability required for long-range testing.»

Key additions in the free update include:

  • The ability to fire from a prone position.
  • Enhanced stability tools like bipods.
  • Extended testing distances of up to 300 meters.
  • Fresh mini-games added to the shooting range.

Gunsmith Simulator continues to expand its reach. Following previous releases focused on historical black-powder pieces and modern Polish weaponry, the Heavy Metal expansion demonstrates a clear shift toward high-intensity, large-scale armaments.
