Despite a record-breaking launch in 2025, Battlefield 6 has seen a significant drop in players in early 2026. A key complaint from the community is the lack of expansive maps that enable the large-scale vehicle and combined arms gameplay the series is known for.
Battlefield Studios has now publicly acknowledged this feedback. The developers state they have "heard the message very clear" and are prioritizing the creation of larger maps moving forward. As part of this effort, they have already begun testing a remake of Golmud Railway, a massive map from Battlefield 4.
However, the studio tempered expectations by emphasizing the long development time required for such maps. Season 2's maps were designed pre-launch, and the team is now focused on future content. While changes are being made to maps currently in development, significant updates to existing stages are unlikely in the near term.
The confirmation that larger maps are coming is welcome news for fans, but the slow pace of development remains a concern, especially with the current release cadence of two maps per season.
